LIVE CONCERT: ADE ONAYIGA & RAY HARDY
Join us in our lounge for a live concert with Ade and Ray, who will be showcasing an eclectic song list, re-interpreting classic songs from R&B/soul, blues/rock, jazz/pop and easy listening. The songs span the era from the late 60s up to the late 80s, including songs by artists such as Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Eric Clapton, Sting, Marvin Gaye, George Benson, Sade, Prince, Mamas & Papas, amongst others. Ade will also perform a few original songs from his upcoming album, scheduled for release later this year.
Doors will open at 7:30pm. Music starts at 8pm.
Ade Onayiga:
Ade Onayiga is a London-based British-Nigerian musician, songwriter and music producer.
He has worked as a session and touring vocalist/guitarist, and as support act for some of the UK's renowned R&B/soul/pop recording artists, including Omar, Shola Ama, Michelle Escoffery and UK-based, US soul/pop recording artist Martine Girault.
In an extract from an April 2007 article in Roots magazine, Ade's original music artistry is described as “a 21st century Bill Withers.”
His formative musical influences include The Jackson 5, The Osmonds animated TV series, the children's TV programme Sesame Street, and the theme tunes to late 60s and early 70s TV series. He also listened to classic Motown, Stax/Atlantic Records, reggae and progressive pop/rock artists.
Whilst living and studying in Lagos, Nigeria, Ade was a vocalist with the avant-garde afro-soul/pop fusion band Projekt. A highlight of this period was being the opening act for the late, great jazz trumpeter, Dizzy Gillespie at the 1989 Lagos International Jazz Festival.
Ade is currently working on his debut album, scheduled for a late 2025 release.
Ray Hardy:
Raymond plays the tenor and soprano saxophones with a uniquely expressive sound. For the last few years he has been playing soul and funk music at venues and festivals in and around London. His background is in contemporary music and jazz. He has degrees in music and composition from Goldsmiths College and studied saxophone with John Rangecroft, Mark Lockheart and Mark Ramsden.
