HOT MILK

Based on the acclaimed 2016 novel by critically adored novelist Deborah Levy and with a terrific cast led by Fiona Shaw, Emma Mackey and Vicky Krieps, HOT MILK is the directorial debut of playwright and screenwriter (Disobedience, Colette, Ida) Rebecca Lenkiewicz, set to premiere in Competition at the Berlinale. Rose and her daughter Sofia travel to the Spanish seaside town of Almería to consult with the shamanic Dr. Gomez, a physician who could possibly hold the cure to Rose’s mystery illness, which has left her bound to a wheelchair. But in the sultry atmosphere of this sun-bleached town Sofia, who has been trapped by her mother’s illness all her life, finally starts to shed her inhibitions, enticed by the persuasive charms of enigmatic traveller Ingrid. Aided by a trio of stand-out performances, the acclaimed screenwriter of Ida and She Said makes her directorial debut with this adaptation of Levy’s Booker Prize-nominated novel. The result is an intriguing and exhilarating drama.DramaPT1H33M152025-07-11
