BETWEEN THE RAINS + LIVE DIRECTOR Q&A

Best Documentary winner at Tribeca Festival 2023! A childhood caught up in tribal expectations and the looming threat of climate change... Filmed with stunning cinematography over four years, Between the Rains explores a childhood caught within a traditional culture that is a casualty of climate change. Between the Rains is the coming-of-age story of Kolei, a shepherd boy whose name translates to “living amongst the goats.” Unfolding over the course of a prolonged drought, viewers are pressed deeper into Kolei’s inner conflict as he questions not only his own identity as a warrior — a path that was chosen for him —but also the erosion of the culture that has shaped every aspect of his life. For Kolei, becoming a warrior not only shapes masculinity and personal identity, but it is also the very foundation on which this community and society root their lives. It is a sacred, guiding pillar. With unprecedented and intimate access to the Turkana people, this moving coming-of-age story reveals the grave threats facing one of the world's oldest communities. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with the director, Andrew Harrison Brown. More details coming soon.DocumentaryPT2H10M152024-05-25
